Polymarket and Major League Soccer Form Strategic Alliance

Polymarket has signed a multi-year agreement with Major League Soccer (MLS), becoming the league's exclusive prediction market partner. This collaboration also extends to the Leagues Cup, aiming to enhance fan interaction with innovative experiences such as second-screen engagement featuring data, statistics, and betting opportunities.

Driving Enhanced Fan Engagement

According to Polymarket's founder and CEO Shayne Coplan, "As the soccer audience expands in the US, fans are seeking deeper engagement with the sport. We provide real-time collective sentiment on pivotal moments, matches, and season narratives, offering a more interactive, data-driven experience for fans of the world's most popular sport."

This partnership is announced amid growing enthusiasm for soccer in North America, with the FIFA World Cup set to be hosted in the region later this year.

Ensuring Integrity and Security

The partnership includes measures to protect the integrity of MLS and Leagues Cup matches, such as independent monitoring of trading activities.

Prediction Market Platforms Witness Growth

Prediction market platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi are experiencing record volumes following the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's endorsement, despite several US states challenging their operations. Kalshi surpassed Polymarket in volume with a record $2.15 billion in a week, while Polymarket reached nearly $825 million.

Earlier this month, the CFTC issued a no-action letter to Bitnomial, allowing it to operate a prediction market, while states such as Nevada, New Jersey, Tennessee, and Massachusetts have initiated legal actions against Kalshi and similar platforms, arguing they constitute unlicensed sports betting.

Kalshi has countered these claims, asserting the CFTC's jurisdiction over prediction markets.
