Freename Bridges Web2 and Web3 with Domain Integration

Freename, a domain registrar focused on merging DNS and blockchain technology, has launched Web2 domain integration. This aims to create what they call a Unified Internet, where a domain name serves as a universal access point across both Web2 and Web3 applications.

Users can now register and transfer traditional domains like .com, .ai, and .xyz on Freename. This combines typical Web2 functions (websites, email) with Web3 utilities like wallet resolution and crypto payments, all within a single platform.

.COM Domains as Crypto Wallets

This update enables traditional domains to send and receive crypto payments. Instead of complex wallet addresses, a business could receive USDT at mybusiness.com, or a freelancer could get paid at name.ai. Domains act as secure, on-chain identities while operating in standard browsers.

Davide Vicini, CEO and Co-Founder of Freename, stated that with this launch, the internet is evolving from static to dynamic. He said that domains are becoming multi-purpose by unlocking wallets, payments, smart contracts and on-chain operations.

Mattia Martone, COO and Co-Founder of Freename added: “Your .com is now your wallet. We’re building the Unified Internet, where domains act as secure, multi-chain digital passports, empowering everyone to unify and control their digital identity.”

On-Chain DNS and Market Opportunity

Freename's on-chain DNS allows Web3 domains to resolve in standard browsers, while Web2 domains gain crypto payment functionality. Users can also create and monetize their own Top-Level Domains (TLDs), earning royalties from registrations.

Freename is offering limited-time promotions, including up to 50% off Web3 registrations, free .com domains with qualifying purchases, and $10 credits per Web2 domain transfer.

Freename is positioning itself to tap into a $141 billion market opportunity by merging DNS and blockchain, redefining digital identity across the internet.
