CZ's Hong Kong Visit: Crypto Market Insights & Binance's Future
CZ's Rare Hong Kong Appearance: Market Insights and Personal Reflections
Changpeng Zhao (CZ), CEO of Binance, made a surprise public appearance in Hong Kong, attending both the BNB Super Meetup and the MVB 9th event. This follows his recent denial of attending another Hong Kong crypto event on April 8th, making his presence even more noteworthy.
The appearance generated significant buzz within the crypto community. During the events, CZ shared his perspective on the current state of the market and offered investment advice.

Crypto Market Assessment and Investment Strategies
CZ described the current crypto market as "not particularly healthy," criticizing the excessive focus on meme coins and the pursuit of quick gains. He surprisingly revealed that he "doesn't speculate much" and "doesn't trade crypto much," adding that he hasn't invested in meme coins.
Despite his vast wealth (estimated at $66.6 billion), CZ suggested that several dozen to over a hundred cryptocurrencies could potentially outperform Bitcoin in the long term. However, he stressed that Bitcoin remains the most stable investment option.
For new investors, CZ recommended a disciplined approach, advocating for dollar-cost averaging: "I strongly recommend young people invest a small amount each month that you can afford to lose. There’s no bad time to enter the market, but how you enter is very important."
Addressing Past Mistakes and Binance's Future
CZ acknowledged past mistakes, particularly in Binance's approach to DeFi, stating that they "didn’t focus enough on the BNB ecosystem. This was a big mistake." He attributed this oversight to dealing with US legal challenges.
While avoiding specific predictions about BNB's future value, CZ highlighted that expanding use cases would naturally increase its value.
Personal Life and Future Endeavors
CZ revealed that numerous countries, including the UAE, US, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, and Japan, seek his blockchain expertise. He mentioned a digital education project aimed at providing free educational content to children globally, stating, "With about $300 million, we could digitize 18 years of education across 30 subjects."
He also shared details about his daily routine, working primarily from bed due to back problems and enjoying kitesurfing in his free time. He also noted his completed four-month prison sentence in September 2024 after pleading guilty to US federal charges related to money laundering, resulting in $4.3 billion in fines paid by Binance and $50 million personally paid by CZ.
