World ID Expands to US, Partners with Tinder & Razer

Blockchain News

World, formerly known as Worldcoin, the digital identity project co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Worldcoin CEO Alex Blania, is expanding its services to the United States. This launch, announced at their recent "At Last" event, is a significant step in World's mission to create a global proof-of-humanity network in the age of AI.

Key Expansion Details

  • US Deployment: World plans to deploy 7,500 Orbs by the end of the year, a fourfold increase from its current global deployment. Initial rollout will focus on six major US cities: Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and San Francisco.
  • Texas Manufacturing: A new US manufacturing line in Texas will assemble Orbs for domestic and international markets, aiming to make human verification widely accessible.
  • Orb Mini: A portable Orb Mini device will ship in 2026, enabling peer-to-peer verification.

Partnerships: Gaming and Dating

World's US launch includes key partnerships focusing on gaming, dating, and social networking. These collaborations leverage World ID, the project's decentralized identity protocol, to combat AI bots and enhance user verification.

  • Razer Partnership: The gaming giant is integrating World ID across its ecosystem, with Orbs becoming available at Razer retail stores. A new "League of Humans" tournament, exclusive to verified users, is also planned. World is exploring integrations with Razer camera hardware for enhanced authentication in gaming.
  • Tinder/Match Group Partnership: Match Group will pilot World ID integration in Japan this year for age and identity verification, with potential expansion to other platforms and markets.

World App Enhancements

The World App received several upgrades, including:

  • Circle Integration: Access to USDC for in-app transactions.
  • Stripe Integration: Enhanced payment capabilities, streamlining fiat on- and off-ramps.
  • Kalshi Integration: Access to the Kalshi prediction marketplace.
  • Visa Card: A World Visa card is planned, starting with merchant integrations.

Worldcoin's Future Role

Worldcoin, the network's native token, will serve as the fee token for the World ecosystem. Applications using World ID will pay fees in Worldcoin on World Chain, the project's custom blockchain. The community will determine fee distribution and allocation.
