WLFI's USD1 Stablecoin: April 1st Listing Predicted
World Liberty Financial (WLFI), announced the launch of its USD1 stablecoin nearly a week ago. The lack of a concrete listing date has left investors uncertain. However, a crypto analyst, xHuai.eth, predicts the stablecoin will debut on exchanges as early as April 1st, barring any unforeseen delays related to US stablecoin regulations.
Predicted Listing Date: April 1st
xHuai.eth, a pseudonymous analyst, shared their prediction on X (link). The prediction aligns with typical industry practices, where stablecoins often list on exchanges within days of their announcement. WLFI announced the launch of the USD1 stablecoin on March 25th, issued on Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain (link).
xHuai.eth noted that successful stablecoin listings depend on completing necessary technical steps. WLFI's utilization of Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, and Bitgo for custodial services suggests these steps are complete. Competition with established stablecoins like USDT and USDC will likely incentivize WLFI to expedite the listing process. xHuai.eth stated, “With the announcement on March 25th, the timeframe of March 31st to April 5th is reasonable. April 1st is the most feasible date if there are no delays.”
Regulatory Uncertainty Could Impact Launch
xHuai.eth acknowledges that upcoming US stablecoin regulations will play a crucial role. WLFI previously indicated that exchange listings are contingent upon "regulatory approval." The GENIUS Act and STABLE Act (link) are driving this regulatory push. While authorities aim for swift regulation, a delay could push the listing to late April, a scenario xHuai.eth considers unlikely given the executive branch's support for a two-month timeframe.
The recent decision by Sonic Labs to abandon its algorithmic stablecoin (link) following the release of the STABLE Act draft, highlights the changing landscape. Other issuers are positioning themselves to align with government initiatives aimed at maintaining the dollar's dominance through stablecoins.
