Uniswap's UNI Surges Past $6 Amid Governance Proposal Momentum

Uniswap's UNI Price Rally Driven by Governance Proposal

Uniswap's native token, UNI, experienced a significant price increase, rising 17.75% on Saturday before a slight 2.32% decline on Sunday. This upward movement was largely fueled by the UNIfication governance proposal, which has propelled UNI above the $6 mark.

The proposal, which has reached quorum and is set to close on December 25, has already made its mark on UNI's price trajectory. The voting commenced on December 20 at 3:50 UTC with UNI trading at $5.30. It has since climbed 16.27%, reaching $6.16 at the time of this report.

The UNIfication proposal aims to introduce protocol fees on Uniswap v2 and some v3 liquidity pools, utilizing these fees for burning UNI tokens. Additionally, a retroactive burn of 100 million UNI is part of the proposal, simulating the burn that would have occurred had these fees been in place since the token's inception.

Market Reactions and Trading Opportunities

UNI's strong performance signals market confidence, and traders are keenly observing for potential swing trading opportunities. A daily close above $5.97 has established a bullish structure, with a potential retest of the $5.33-$6.05 range as a demand zone.

While the Awesome Oscillator suggests rising momentum, the On-Balance Volume (OBV) indicator reveals a lack of new highs, hinting at potential weaknesses in buying pressure.

Trading Strategy and Key Levels

Traders should watch for a dip to the $5.60-$5.80 range, which could present a buying opportunity. The bullish target is set at $7, a former support level turned resistance. However, this setup would be invalidated if the price drops below $5.33.

Conclusion

  • The UNIfication proposal has catalyzed significant gains for UNI over the weekend.
  • Despite a potential minor dip, continued demand could push UNI towards $7.
