Digital Asset Raises $135M
Digital Asset Secures $135 Million in Funding
Institutional blockchain infrastructure provider Digital Asset has raised $135 million in a strategic funding round. The round was led by DRW Venture Capital and Tradeweb Markets, with participation from prominent financial institutions including Goldman Sachs, Citadel Securities, BNP Paribas, and the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC). Crypto-focused investors Paxos, Polychain Capital, and Circle Ventures also contributed.
This significant investment will fuel the adoption of Digital Asset's Canton Network, a permissionless Layer-1 blockchain designed for institutional and decentralized finance (DeFi). Canton Network offers configurable privacy and institutional-grade compliance, key features attracting traditional finance players.
Accelerating Real-World Asset (RWA) Integration
Digital Asset plans to use the funding to expand the integration of billions of dollars worth of real-world assets (RWAs) onto the Canton Network. This focus on RWAs reflects a growing trend in the industry, as evidenced by the over 260% growth in the RWA market during the first half of 2025, reaching a total valuation exceeding $23 billion.
Canton Network's Institutional Traction
- Launched in May 2023 in partnership with firms like Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, and Deloitte.
- Successfully completed a pilot project with DTCC in September 2024, focusing on tokenized US Treasury collateral.
- Conducted another major pilot in early October 2024 with Euroclear, the World Gold Council, and Clifford Chance, tokenizing gold and bonds on Canton Network.
- As of mid-March 2024, facilitated over 350 simulated transactions involving 15 asset managers, 13 banks, four custodians, three exchanges, and Paxos.
Yuval Rooz, co-founder and CEO of Digital Asset, stated: "Canton is already actively supporting numerous asset classes – from bonds to alternative funds – and this raise will accelerate onboarding even more real-world assets, finally making blockchain’s transformative promise an institutional-scale reality."
