CZ's Donation to TST & BROCCOLI Victims
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) recently announced his intention to compensate victims of the TST and BROCCOLI token crashes. Both tokens experienced significant pump-and-dump schemes, plummeting 60-80% from their peaks. The events caused considerable market volatility and investor losses.
CZ's Donation to Affected Investors
CZ's involvement stemmed from the hype surrounding his dog, BROCCOLI, which led to the creation of several meme coins. While the BROCCOLI token initially surged 160%, it subsequently crashed over 75%. CZ's response involved donating 150 BNB (approximately $100,000) to a university student who had already contributed $50,000 to aid victims of the LIBRA project. This student had reportedly profited from BNB investments. CZ stated on X that he will donate all funds received, including additional BNB and tokens sent to the donation address, to those affected by TST and BROCCOLI.
“I won’t be keeping a satoshi of it. Will donate it away, most likely to people who had a loss on TST or some of the Broccolis. This is NOT an endorsement for any of the tokens. Do NOT overinterpret this.”
He added, "When you try to make quick money, you often lose. When you give money away, you get more back."
The Meme Coin Frenzy
CZ's connection to the TST token arose from its inclusion in an educational BNB Chain video. This led to a surge in TST trading activity, followed by a 52% price drop within a week, with daily trading volumes exceeding $205 million. CZ has publicly distanced himself from the project. His comments on the LIBRA token crash further highlight the risks associated with endorsing crypto assets, emphasizing the importance of cautious tokenomics analysis.
