Coinbase CEO: $1 Million Bitcoin Possible with US Reserve

After a recent dip, optimism around Bitcoin is returning, fueled in part by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong. Despite the token trading around $113,000, Armstrong has made a bold prediction, pointing to potential U.S. regulatory developments and increasing global adoption as major catalysts.

Coinbase CEO Forecasts $1 Million Bitcoin by 2030

In a recent “Cheeky Pint” podcast with Stripe co-founder John Collison, Coinbase founder and CEO Brian Armstrong predicted that Bitcoin could reach $1 million by 2030. Armstrong shared a clip of the podcast on X, noting that this wasn't financial advice but highlighting the potential impact of emerging regulatory clarity and the possibility of the U.S. government building a Bitcoin reserve.

Armstrong emphasized the U.S.'s role as a "bellwether" for the G20, citing progress like the GENIUS Act for stablecoins and ongoing Senate discussions regarding market structure.

His $1 million prediction hinges on the potential for the U.S. to officially hold Bitcoin, a scenario that is increasingly plausible. Armstrong also suggested that Bitcoin could become a world reserve currency due to declining trust in fiat currencies and rising global deficits.

Why This Prediction Matters

After hitting a high of $124,400 earlier in the month and defying a Harvard economist's prediction of a crash to $100, Bitcoin has recently corrected, trading around $113,200. This pullback coincides with broader market corrections driven by key macroeconomic events.

Key factors contributing to the recent downturn include the U.S. FOMC Meeting Minutes, Initial Jobless Claims data, and Powell’s Jackson Hole speech. These events have amplified volatility across the cryptocurrency market. Armstrong's forecast is now injecting renewed confidence among investors.

While optimism is growing, analysts like James McKay of McKay Research advise caution, stating, “Let’s try and hold $124K first.” He also acknowledges that a $1 million Bitcoin price isn’t completely unrealistic, given Standard Chartered's $500,000 prediction by 2028.

*BULLISH*

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said he believes #Bitcoin could reach $1 million by 2030.

For context Standard Chartered have a 500K $BTC prediction for 2028, so $750K to $1 million by 2030 not out of left field.

Armstrong joins figures like Jack Dorsey, Cathie Wood, and Changpeng Zhao in projecting a $1 million Bitcoin price by 2030.
