Binance Enables Bitcoin Options Writing for All Users
Binance Expands Bitcoin Options Trading
Binance, the leading cryptocurrency exchange by volume, announced Monday that it is granting all users access to Bitcoin options writing. This decision comes as a direct response to growing retail interest in more advanced and strategic trading instruments.
Options contracts provide the buyer with the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell an underlying asset at a predetermined price before a specific date. A call option grants the right to buy, indicating a bullish outlook, while a put option protects against potential downside.
Writing options involves selling call or put contracts, which effectively offers insurance against price movements in the underlying asset. The seller receives a premium in exchange for this.
What This Means for Traders
Experienced crypto holders often write options to generate additional yield on their spot holdings. This strategy allows them to capitalize on market volatility while managing risk.
"Accelerating crypto adoption will increase demand for more sophisticated liquidity tools and we are committed to building a fuller suite of derivative products to support our users,” said Jeff Li, VP of Product at Binance.
Risk Management
Binance has stated that it will implement robust risk management measures, including mandatory suitability assessments and margin requirements for options writers to secure their obligations.
Market Growth
The broader Bitcoin options market has experienced significant growth. Total trading volume surged over 3200% from $4.11 billion in 2020 to $138.76 billion in June 2025, according to Binance.
Benefits of Options Writing
By enabling a wider audience to write options, Binance aims to provide traders with the tools to:
- Express market opinions
- Manage risk
- Earn upfront premiums
- Implement advanced trading strategies
Launch Promotions
To celebrate this launch, Binance is offering a 20% discount on Taker and Maker fees for newly listed options contracts, including those for Ether (ETH), BNB (BNB), and Solana. They are also improving their Options Enhanced Program for high-volume and institutional traders, offering lower qualification thresholds and more favorable fee structures.
