American Bitcoin Targets Asia for Expansion

American Bitcoin, a Bitcoin mining firm with ties to Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., is reportedly considering acquisitions in Japan and Hong Kong. According to a Financial Times report, the company aims to establish regional crypto treasury vehicles through these acquisitions.

This strategy mirrors that of Michael Saylor's MicroStrategy, which has accumulated a significant Bitcoin holding of 629,000 BTC, resulting in a market capitalization of $110 billion. Several other companies have followed this model, incorporating Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies into their balance sheets.

Going Public via Reverse Merger

American Bitcoin, which recently disclosed ownership of 215 BTC, is preparing to go public through a reverse merger with Gryphon Digital Mining, a Nasdaq-listed miner. Gryphon's shareholders are scheduled to vote on the proposed merger on August 27.

When questioned by the FT, American Bitcoin did not confirm specific acquisition plans. However, the company stated its goal to build “the strongest and most efficient Bitcoin accumulation platform in the world,” focusing on operational efficiency, treasury management, and long-term shareholder value.

The company is evaluating international markets where U.S. leadership in Bitcoin could drive demand, emphasizing that no definitive agreements are currently in place.

Company Background and Future Plans

Originally named American Data Centers, a subsidiary of Dominari Holdings located in New York’s Trump Tower, the company rebranded in March after forming a joint venture with Hut 8. Hut 8 contributed its mining equipment in exchange for a majority stake in American Bitcoin.

Following the merger, American Bitcoin intends to expand its Bitcoin mining capacity and infrastructure within the United States. Hut 8 will retain a substantial ownership stake and serve as the exclusive operations partner.
