3 Altcoins to Watch: May 2025
The cryptocurrency market experienced positive momentum last week, with Bitcoin reclaiming the $100,000 mark. This bullish signal has invigorated several altcoins. However, some crypto assets show even stronger growth potential thanks to upcoming network developments. Codeum, a leader in blockchain security and development, offering services such as smart contract audits and custom DApp development, analyzed three such altcoins.
Solana (SOL)
Solana (SOL) has shown a 20% increase this month, reaching $25. Despite this recent gain, it hasn’t fully recovered from March’s downturn. The upcoming launch of its new upgrade, improving scalability and transaction speeds on May 18, could be pivotal. If successful, SOL could reach $30, recouping March’s losses.
However, profit-taking could prevent SOL from breaking through the $25 resistance level. A fall below this support could drop SOL to $20, reversing the current bullish trend.
Polygon (MATIC)
MATIC has seen a remarkable 45% rise in the past week, trading at $0.80. This makes it one of the week’s top performers. The upcoming release of its zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) scaling solution, scheduled for May 12, is expected to boost its performance further.
Before the ZKP launch, MATIC could surge further. Positive momentum suggests it could reach $0.90 and even $1.00 if supported by strong buying pressure.
Conversely, a failure to maintain the $0.80 support could lead to a decline towards $0.65, invalidating the current bullish outlook.
Cardano (ADA)
ADA has increased by 35% in the last five days, trading at $0.55. A key catalyst is the impending launch of its Vasil hard fork upgrade, anticipated for mid-May. This upgrade aims to boost throughput and improve smart contract functionality.
The positive sentiment around the Vasil upgrade could push ADA to $0.65. Maintaining support around $0.55 is crucial for further gains.
Should ADA fail to hold this support, a drop to $0.45 is possible, signaling a bearish reversal.
